MCMS School Counseling Department

The mission of the Mill Creek Middle School Counseling Program is to deliver a data-driven, comprehensive school counseling program to prepare students for high school and post-secondary success. Our program will work towards equity by ensuring access to academic, social, emotional, developmental, and career services for all students in collaboration with teachers, families, administrators, and other educational stakeholders.

Academic achievement strategies

I assist students in developing the academic skills needed to be successful in school. I teach classroom and small group lessons focused on organization, time management, test taking, and study skills. I also schedule student courses.

Career/Post-Secondary prep

I work with students to develop an Educational Development Plan through which they explore careers, colleges, and other post-secondary options.

Personal/social wellness

I provide supportive services to help students to develop social skills, coping strategies, and healthy relationships. I also support students with any personal challenges that may experience in school and at home.

Role of the counselor

I support the success of all students through:
-Classroom lessons
-Small groups
-Individual counseling
-Referrals to outside agencies
-Academic advising and scheduling
