David Hood
I am fortunate to have been born and raised in Comstock Park. I love it here! Graduating with the Class of 1992, having served in Student Leadership, and as a Captain in Athletics I was raised to be a leader. Following graduation at Western Michigan University in Organizational Communication, I lived in Chicago for several years before finding my bride, Darcy. We knew there was no better place to raise a family then back home in Comstock Park. We have since lived here for 20 years, raising our son Easton, a 2024 graduate of Comstock Park HS and currently a freshman at Alma College.
Serving on the Comstock Park School Board is important to me as my strength will continue to be in an advisory role. I understand how boards operate, having served on the boards of Local First (focused on buying local with emphasis on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion), Grand Rapids Police Foundation (assist community outreach efforts of the GRPD), Salvation Army (Doing the Most Good) and my local Neighborhood Association. I have also learned so much from my father, Ed Hood, a former school board member of 12 years, who was instrumental in many important decisions, including the construction of our existing High School opening in 1991.
“As a lifelong learner – I will continue to question, learn, and grow as a school board member and member of our Comstock Park Community. I will support the district’s initiatives, ask challenging questions, and promote our district in the community with Panther Pride!"
Our district has room to grow in numbers. The Comstock Park Public School district provides high quality education, no matter the barrier, to each and every student – So let’s showcase this and grow!
My hope still is to leave the world a bit better than when I got here. - Jim Henson.
Jeremy Kelly
I have lived in Comstock Park for over 25 years. I was raised in a small farming community on the East side of the state. After relocating here, I had the pleasure of meeting my wife, Amber. Together, we are proud parents of two children. Aiden graduated in 2022, Addie is currently a sophomore at the high school. My dedication to serving the community led me to pursue a career with the Alpine Township Fire Department, where I am currently the Deputy Fire Chief. Additionally, I have over 15 years of experience as a Critical Care Paramedic and have transitioned to my current position as the EMS Coordinator for Corewell Health.I decided to become involved as a School Board member because I am empathic about the challenges faced by today's youth. Comstock Park encompasses a diverse student population, and I am committed to ensuring that all our students receive equitable opportunities. I am eager to assume this role and act as a dedicated advocate for our students and the community.
Christy Nowak
I am currently serving as president of the school board in my 16th year. My husband, Dan and I, have lived in Comstock Park for 36 years. We have 3 children who all graduated from Comstock Park. Jacqueline has since graduated from Albion College with her elementary education degree. Andrew is a plumber with DenKetelaar and Rachael graduated from MSU with her Master's Degree in sports business administration and now works for the PGA in Florida.
I have always been very involved at the school, PTO president, senior parent president, classroom volunteer and even though my kids have graduated I continue to volunteer at the school. I volunteer in a 1st grade classroom, coordinate the JA program and am part of the Education Foundation. I love Comstock Park. It is a close-knit community and I am so glad we raised our kids here. I feel their CP education prepared them to be successful adults. I would like to be reelected to the school board because I still feel very connected to the community and school. Being a school board member has been rewarding in many ways and I would like to continue to make a difference in the lives of the students.
